It’s time to plan ahead and prepare for Remote Working

With the current advancement of the Coronavirus closing down schools, businesses and local shops at a worryingly fast rate, it’s time you start to think about your own business. With self-isolation already in place in Italy, the UK may not be far off from forcing a similar action, we plan to guide your business on how to work from home efficiently and effectively.

With a few steps in place, your workforce can access everything they need from the office network, including communications as well as collaboration.

Virtual Private Networks (VPNs)

A Virtual Private Network gives you online privacy & anonymity by creating a private network from a public internet connection. This can be used to create and setup a connection from a home users’ computer to the office network.

Where VPNs are predominantly used for security reasons, this will also allow those users to remotely connect to their office PCs and carry on working as if they were still at the office. However, if a PC is shared, then only one person can also remotely access the PC at any time.

VoIP Telephony Systems

Communication is a key part of any business, working from home will undoubtedly block a large portion of your day to day job if you can’t make or receive phone calls, both internally and externally.

VoIP is the next generation of calling, you may or may not already have a VoIP based phone system installed within your business, whether it’s hosted or on-premise.

If you’re using an Ontraq VoIP based phone system, we can discuss options on call forwarding or home-based VoIP handsets to allow calls to be received and made on your business phone lines and numbers from home.

If you’re not using an Ontraq phone system we are more than happy to help you with a suitable setup.

Microsoft Teams
