A New Software Solution and Supporting Harware for an Essex Manufacturing Business
THE COMPANY
Shadbolt International have been manufacturing wooden panels and doors since 1947. Their Braintree factory uses CNC controls, an intgrated bar code system, up to date cutting, sanding and finishing machines as well as automatic hadnling equipment.
THE CHALLENGE
Shadbolt needed a new piece of software – a custom designed ERP package to streamline the manufacture of their core products. Virtually all Shadbolt products are bespoke and therefore each order is custom made.
THE PROJECT
Ontraq designed and developed a new solution including the user interface and a custom configurator. We also planned and built a new set of Host and Virtual servers. The project was a massive undertaking involving hundreds of man hours to replace the existing 30 year old DEC basic terminal sessions that has been in use.
THE RESULT
The project went live in the 2nd quarter of 2018, Shadbolt were so delighted with their new system that they asked Ontraq to provide ongoing IT support. Since the intial setup we have continued to support users and the onsite IT Managers, as well as providing replacement hardware as required.
