This is the third article in our Cyber Essentials 101 series, if you haven’t yet read the first part covering why you should consider Cyber Essentials and how to answer the initial questions about your organisation you can find it here.
If you want to use the free insurance then you’ll need to answer all the questions in this section. The answers to these questions won’t affect the result of your Cyber Essentials assessment. It’s important that the insurance information provided is as accurate as possible and that the assessment declaration is signed by a senior person at Board level or equivalent, to avoid any delays in the insurance policy being issued. This section is best filled in by your admin team, with support from management.
A3.1 – Is your head office domiciled in the UK or Crown Dependencies and is your gross annual turnover less than £20m?
Why are they asking you this?
Only companies based in the UK with an annual turnover less than £20m are eligible for the free cyber insurance.

A3.2 – If you have answered “yes” to the last question then your organisation is eligible for the included cyber insurance if you gain certification. If you do not want this insurance element please opt out here.
Why are they asking you this?
This is where you can choose whether you want the free cyber insurance that is offered alongside your CyberEssentials certificate.
Example answer:
Here you can opt in or opt out of the insurance if you are eligible.
The following two questions are only required if you opt in.
A3.3 – What is your total gross revenue? Please provide figure to the nearest £100K.
Why are they asking you this?
This is required for your insurance. You only need to answer this question if you are taking the insurance.
Example answer:
£300,000 annually
A3.4 – What is the organisation email contact for the insurance documents?
Why are they asking you this?
The answer to this question will be passed to the insurance broker in association with the cyber insurance you will receive at certification and they will use this to contact you with your insurance documents and renewal information.
